Overview
Vista Guapa is a beautiful surf camp for surfers of all skill levels. The surf camp resort is run by Alvaro Solano, the six-time national surfing champion of Costa Rica. Alvaro and the welcoming staff of Vista Guapa work alongside guests as guides for advanced surfers to the best surf breaks in the surrounding area, as surf instructors for beginner and intermediate surfers, and as tour guides for one of the most beautiful places in the world – Costa Rica. Vista Guapa is located in Jaco Beach, Costa Rica, an ideal vacation spot with easy access to some of the best surf breaks on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica.
Vista Guapa Surf Camp features three lovely guest bungalows, each with an unobstructed view of the ocean. Each of the bungalows has two individual rooms with private baths, air conditioning, two single beds or one queen-sized bed and large porches. The porches are ideal for relaxing in hammocks and watching the sun rise and set over the Pacific Ocean. Bungalows are equipped with small safes for the storage of valuables. However, rooms do not have TVs, telephones or Internet connections, enabling guests to leave the daily stresses of home behind and to enjoy the Pura Vida of Costa Rica.
At the main house are the common areas for guests to gather to eat breakfast, play games, shop for t-shirts and basic surfing gear and watch TV and surf videos. The main house also has wireless broadband Internet access for guests that simply cannot leave home without their laptops or need a quick Internet fix. The camp is located on five acres of beautifully landscaped hillside. Guests of the camp can relax in the pool, hang out in hammocks on the porches, or wander around the camp gardens lined by fruit trees and flowers. The camp also has two small dogs, who love to have their bellies scratched and have a tendency to follow guests around begging for attention. Two medium-size dogs are kept on leashes at all times but provide for a great natural security system notifying the camp of unexpected visitors.
Your stay at Vista Guapa begins by being greeted at the international airport in San Jose and shuttled along a scenic two-hour drive from the airport to the small surf town of Jaco Beach. After you get settled into one of the beautiful, yet simple, air-conditioned bungalows, each with ocean views, feel free to tour the gardens of fruit trees and blossoming local flowers, take a dip in the pool or a stretch out on one of the breezy yoga decks. Take a deep breath and feel the pura vida start to work its magic.
Vista Guapa's team includes four of the best surfing instructors in Costa Rica that teach beginners the joy of surfing and help intermediate and advanced surfers improve their skills. The timing of lessons or advanced surf sessions are highly dependent on the tides and weather conditions, and you have plenty of time to relax in between surfing in hammocks or to take hikes of the local area, swing from canopy lines or shop around town. As part of the package, a day trip to nearby Manuel Antonio or Carrara National Parks is included. The staff of Vista Guapa is happy to help organize other excursions, such as canopy tours, mountain bike trails, fishing trips, kayaking or other entertainment with local tour companies.
Nothing builds up an appetite quite like surfing, and Vista Guapa become notorious for its ample and delicious breakfasts served each morning at the camp by lovely cooks. In addition, Vista Guapa partners with the best restaurants in the area to provide a great atmosphere and a variety of local flavors for dinner in the evenings. Therapists from a local spa are available to provide in-room or on-deck massages at the camp to soothe guests' achy muscles to finalize the complete relaxation experience.
